Chimonanthus praecox (shim-moh-nan-thus pray-coks)
‘Winter Sweet’ is a beautifully aromatic flowering shrub for the winter garden. On a dry day the scent can carry over long distances. Often grown as a wall shrub, but can do well in an open position in the garden too, probably best sheltered from cold winds though. Belongs to the same family as the ‘Spice Bush’, Calycanthus, a sweet spicy scent will emanate from a broken branch.
